Putaruru Hotel is the place you're looking for! Putaruru Hotel is located in the center of Putaruru. The Hotel was built in an Art-Deco style in 1952 and hasn't nearly been touched since.  To stay in this hotel you need to appreciate the old character and style. The room set up and facilities are very rudimentary; simple but clean and tidy. Our 24/7 staff are friendly and helpful.

For a great coffee, breakfast, lunch or dinner visit the on-site restaurant The Cook Bistro. Come and enjoy the warm Kiwi Hospitality in the heart of the Waikato.

Standard rooms - Budget price ranges

You'll find the accommodation upstairs where you can choose from one of the hotel's single, double, family or studio rooms, or for those who wish to have a more cost based approach, we have 9 backpacker rooms available.

This Hotel was built in the 1950's and has a lot of the original fittings. This also means that there is only one power point in each room, taps are a little hard to turn, the showers are lower than modern showers, so you don't get your hair wet. It is clean, tidy but old. We don't try to say it is new and do not try to compete with more modern accommodation providers. However, in saying that, we love the place and when you see the original phone in the phone room, which is right next to the writing room, you will understand the old buildings charm. There is paint flaking off in some places, we don't try to hide that, simply we understand that when you are 65 years old, you need a bit of make-up here and there.

All our hotel rooms have their own bathroom with shower and toilet. One interesting feature is the hand basin in the room, not in the bathroom as you would expect nowadays. The Queen Rooms are more roomy and have a tv, fridge, and coffee/tea making facilities in the room. Bathrooms are with bath, basin and toilet. The Studio has a master bedroom, a bunk bedroom and 2 bathrooms. In the lounge you will find a couch and an extra single bed. All rooms are nice and tidy, but a bit outmoded. There is WIFI signal in most rooms, just ask at reception and we will hook you up!

It does get cold in Putaruru, so all hotel accommodation has an oil heater in the room and electric blankets on the bed.

The backpackers is a little more rudimentary, but clean and tidy. It sometimes does not get the WIFI signal and is firmly focused on the budget conscious traveler.

There are 2 pantries with fridge, microwave and coffee/tea making facilities upstairs for general use. The fully equipped backpacker kitchen is downstairs.

The hotel also has here own restaurant downstairs. Come and enjoy the yummy food and warm hospitality of The Cook Bistro for a nice breakfast, barista coffee, lunch, dinner or drink.
